I left South Africa in 2021 and built a life in the U.S., learning what it means to love people from oceans away. While waiting for my work permit, I taught myself embroidery; a simple outline of me and my brothers became a hoodie that felt like a hug. When my grandmother, Marianne, passed and I couldn’t fly home, I engraved her name—and the song she loved—so I had something to hold. I started Stitch a Story from zero, teaching myself every step, so you can hold who you love, too.
